Kairi lost her heart. Later people would come to find that it had lodged itself in Sora's chest shortly before their home world disappeared, but until then, Kairi was comatose, her body useless. It wasn't until Sora stabbed himself with the Keyblade of People's Hearts that her heart was free to go back inside her body. Sora, himself, turned into a heartless, but with a hug from her, it didn't take long for him to restored to his former self.
Kairi, Sora, Donald, Goofy, Leon and the rest of the Traverse Town gang escaped Hollow Bastion-- where Kairi had been at the time-- back to Traverse Town to prepare for the final battle. As they made plans, Kairi insisted that she be allowed to help rescue Riku, but with convincing from Sora, she allowed herself to be left behind. Sora went on to defeat Ansem
More than a year later, Kairi found herself missing Riku-- who disappeared from the islands as far as anyone was concerned-- and a strange boy whose name she couldn't remember and whose existence everyone else seemed to have forgotten. It wasn't until a mysterious conversation with a voice named Roxas that she remembered the boy's name: Sora. Knowing that he was out there still taking care of things she couldn't help him with, Kairi wrote a letter and sent it out to sea in a bottle.
Shortly after, a man in black named Axel came to bother her on the beach. He told her to come with him, and she immediately told him no. With a bark from a dog, Pluto, she'd never seen before, Kairi decided instead to follow the dog into a Dark Corridor that lead her to Twilight Town where she met Hayner, Pence and Olette. Kairi explained to them that she was searching for Sora, and they exclaimed that he had just been there and that she could wait with them until he returned.
Unfortunately, Axel crashed the party. Then, Saix crashed the Axel-Kairi party and took her to the World That Never Was. Kairi was placed in a prison cell, but she didn't have to wait long before her Nobody Namine saved her. They ran away, but, of course, the big, bad
Then more stuff happened, Namine went back inside Kairi. Roxas came out of Sora and then went back in. Riku got his appearance back somewhere in there. Then Kairi wasn't allowed to join in the major battle against Xemnas, so instead, she had to wait on the beach of Destiny Islands again until her friends came home.
Don't worry, though! It was after all this that Kairi got her chance to shine! A letter came in a bottle talking of more adventures to be had, battles to be fought, and for once in her life, Kairi got to join in. She trained under Yen Sid! And did some more cool stuff! But since none of that was written in Riku's history, just know that Kairi got to fight! [/ul]

[/i][/size]{{Abilities }}[/b]
- Cure (- 75) - a basic level healing spell that allows Kairi to heal minor wounds to herself or her friends.
- Aero (- 75) - a low level defensive spell that creates a miniature shield made of high speed winds around its intended target.
Others:
- Unlock the Keyhole (- 50) - an ability granted to the seven Princesses of Heart that allows them to open the door to Kingdom Hearts
- Dark Defense ( - 100) - a two three-fold ability that allows Kairi to hold back darkness from an area (the effects stack when there is more than one Princess of Heart around), to be immune to the effects of being around darkness (such as traveling through Dark Corridors), and to sense when darkness is around (which makes her a little sick)
- Wayfinder ( - 75) - this is a passive ability granted to her by a charm Aqua cast; should Kairi find herself lost in the darkness, her light will always lead her to the light of another
{{Weapons }} Destiny's Embrace - a keyblade given to her by Riku that greatly resembles one Aqua once wielded. It's a powerful weapon against Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed, though it also seems to operate as a homing beacon for the foremost. The greatest ability of the keyblade is to unlock or lock any lock be it a simple door, the heart of a world or person, or a pathway to new worlds.

{{Sample Post }}The sun hovered just above the horizon, its fiery image reflected in the ripples of the ocean. She sat, knees pulled to chest, hands pressed to knees, chin pressed to hands. The sand was still warm from the day, comfortable. Soothing. Her eyes fluttered closed for just a moment. Kairi timed her breaths with the ebb of the tide. When the water touched the tip of her toes, she breathed in. When the water slipped away, she breathed out. Breathing was a heavy burden; moving was an impossible task. Again, she’d come back to Destiny Islands.
Again, Sora was not there.
Kairi didn’t know what she was expecting, honestly. Did she really think he would be there sparing with Tidus? Did she think he was going to be chatting with his mother and father on the street like the last few years hadn’t happened? For a moment, Kairi thought that’s exactly what she wanted to see. She wanted to see the pre-Heartless Sora, the boy so clueless about everything that she didn’t know whether to cry, laugh, or whack him on the head. She wanted to see him having the normal life that he gave back to her, if only for a little while. She wanted to see him without the worlds, or the Heartless, or the powers that be like King Mickey whisking him away again.
It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair. The thought of it all made her want to push to her feet and stomp in the water. It made her want to run to the gummi ship, find Riku, and demand they search every world until Sora appeared. Riku. She wasn’t quite sure if she felt more sorry for him or less. There had been something in his eyes when he’d saved her at the World That Never Was, a melancholia she wasn’t sure existed before the Heartless threw them into the fray. Perhaps her eyes were too trained on their ever-missing companion that she wasn’t paying enough attention to how Riku was doing. When had she seen him last? Did she leave him standing somewhere in her barrel toward their home?
”Ugh! I can’t do this!” Her hands flew to her head, pressing against her ears in bruising force as if the self-doubt were an outside threat instead of a festering internal debate. This wasn’t the girl she wanted to be! Sitting here and moping was not what she was supposed to be doing! Gritting her teeth and slowly prying her fingers from her head, Kairi pushed to her feet. Instead of blocking the cacophony of her own worries, she brushed the sand from her dress, flicked the specks from under her nails. There was no way she was going to know what Riku was feeling unless she asked him, and there was no way she was going to find Sora if she just sat on the edge of their beach and moped. As a keyblade wielder-- no, as a friend-- she had a responsibility and the ability to do what others could not.
She was going to find Sora, save Riku, and save the worlds this time. This time, she was going to help them.
