((OOC Note: This is essentially a retcon of a previous thread I had. If it is preferred I make a fresh thread as though I never wrote this post to begin with, please tell me. Otherwise, I will start with this pre-written post.))
Whoever had the bright idea to actually LIVE in the second district of town was either stupid, or outright crazy. Not that this man couldn't handle anything that got in his way, but actually having a busy going in this area was inconvenient for everyone. Although Dane grumbled to himself about this, he was getting payed to deliver the crate he was carrying, being one of the few people that could put up with going here. It wasn't like he could simply get another job either, and he supported his son and himself just fine. Easing the crate under one arm, the man closed the oversized door behind him, as to not let any wandering Heartless into the first district. Granted, those things probably would at one point or another anyways, but the logic that Heartless don't open doors was strange, yet convenient.
Turning back around, Dane began his walk to the other end of the district. He first made a right, and at the corner had to make a left due to that was the only direction to go in. This caused him to walk past a couple of stores, none of which the man payed much attention to. Right now wasn't the time to browse, nor was that really a pastime of his to begin with. Once he got to the stairs leading down into the courtyard, he let out an irritable grunt as he nearly dropped the crate he was carrying. "Damn these stairs..", he thought to himself as he walked down. After he did so, now came the time where he was on alert a bit more. Getting ambushed was never a good thing, especially when he had to carry something like a crate around. There wouldn't have been any place he could have put it down in a situation like that.
Looking at the crate he was carrying, he took a good look at the sticker that showed where he was supposed to drop it off. Upon reading it closely, the man stopped next to the alleyway that would lead to the third district. Scowling at what he was reading, the man said irritably,"Damnit!" Apparently, he had to go even further into the third district, making the past few minutes a complete waste of time. If Dane had read it before, he could've simply just gone through the door that connected the first and third districts, dropped off this stupid crate, go back, and get his money. He rolled his eyes as he turned to start walking down the alleyway. For all he knew something was going to interfere with him getting to his destination, thus causing Dane to only become more irritable. He needed something that would let him calm down, and it was quite obvious he wasn't going to be friendly... well, moreso than usual.

She wasn't a very good fighter and she had decided upon reaching the new world she would stay in the populated areas and wait for signs of her family, or wait for another ship to take her to another world. Which ever came first. However, she had somehow ended up in a very deserted part of town.
Marlene looked about her, hoping to find some way out of the spooky area. She had yet to find someone, or a door for that matter. True to her upbringing, Marlene kept herself positive about the situation. The nine year old was able to keep a smile on her face as she walked through the district that frightened her so.
Suddenly Marlene was surrounded by Heartless. The young girl shot out a quick blizzard spell as some of them closed in on her. Without thinking she bolted from the scene. The Heartless gave chase.
Over her shoulder, Marlene threw spell after spell until she reached her limit. Once that happened, Marlene ran faster, hoping to get away from the creatures.
"Uh-oh," Marlene huffed as her feet slipped.
The young girl fell to the ground with a loud thud. The black creatures surrounded her, getting ready to attack. With no magic left for her to use, Marlene was left with one option, something Aerith had taught her. Pray.
"Please!" the little brunette screamed. "Somebody help me!" [/style](WORDS) 252 (TAGS) open,Dane (NOTES) lalala (CREDIT) template made by oxymoron! of back to neverland |

His eyes simply glared at the door to the third district as he turned the corner, and continued his trip down the alleyway. More often than not, Heartless had a habit of showing up in that district, usually in large groups. This little fact caused the man to grumble irritably, but quite a few things caused him to grumble to himself. Maybe he could find some of the inky black creatures and pound on them some, although even Dane had to admit doing that could get out of hand quickly. Besides, other people having to face Heartless was not really his business to begin with. Sniffing the air once, he scowled as he caught the scent of some Heartless nearby, which as he figured, were in the third district. Not that he wouldn't simply just charge on through them and end their miserable lives.
Once he arrived at the door, he shifted the crate under his arm to make sure he still had it. Confirming that he did so, he used his free hand to forcefully open the door, which slammed harshly into the wall. Thankfully it didn't break, but he stood there for a moment, examining the air again. Another scent had come to his attention, and this time it seemed to be a human possibly. Now this normally wouldn't have been a big deal, if it weren't for the fact that the scent was mixed in with the Heartless scents he discovered a few moments ago. Rolling his eyes, the man growled to himself, as this would possibly irritate him, assuming he had to deal with the issue himself. So for now, Dane just went through the doorway into the third district. Where he had to drop it off was a bit odd, but he didn't really care when it came down to it.
Walking over to the unused safehouse that was near the door, he simply set the crate down next to the doorway of the house. Before he left, the man checked the label again to make sure this was where he needed to go. Confirming that it was, he turned around and began to walk towards the stairs. Dane paused however, as he heard the scream of a young girl in the district he was in, and mumbled, "Ah, damnit! Right when he though he could go and grab his money, something like this just had to come up! Now, he would certainly have just walked off as though that never happened, but knowing his luck people would find out and tell the man off for leaving a child to be killed by Heartless. Anyone else and it probably wouldn't have mattered so much, since usually those that could handle themselves wandered through the other districts.
Dane wandered over to the railing near the stairs, and instead of walking down the stairs, jumped over the railing and landed on the ground below. Almost immediately did he catch sight of the Heartless attacking the young girl, which he figured was the one who screamed. Grumbling irritably to himself again, the man rushed towards the scene, ready to beat on some Heartless. There was a group of them sure, but it shouldn't take too long to get rid of the creatures. Grabbing a Soldier by the head, Dane tossed it fiercely into another of the same kind, which caused them to be slammed into the wall. Rushing forward a bit, the man took his fist and delivered a punch into the two Soldiers, destroying them without pause. The rest of the remaining Heartless were nothing more than Shadows, which were dumb enough to remain there.
Right now the remaining Heartless had turned their attention to Dane. Figuring the young girl to not be much of a threat that could easily be taken care of later, they went after the man. Despite being scratched a couple times, the scratches did little to no harm, and he began to dispatch each Shadow one by one, or if they were unlucky, two at a time. Curling his hand into a fist, he slammed the last one into the wall next to him, getting rid of the Shadow. Cracking his knuckles, Dane took a quick look around the area. No more Heartless had shown up for now, and any that would show up would likely be instantly defeated. Recently the ones that had appeared were hardly considered a challenge for the man, which perhaps was something that caused Dane to be more irritable as of late.
Now, he turned his attention back to the young girl. He wasn't that great with kids, and usually kept his gruff and serious disposition around more or less everyone. This situation was no different, and the man frowned as he looked at the girl, "Kid, the hell you doing in this district? You should know better than to wander out here. His tone was probably too harsh, even though he wasn't yelling, but in all honestly Dane didn't really care. Kids who just wandered around alone had no common sense in his eyes.

When they didn't, the nine year old looked up from her cowering position. Instead of attacking her, the Heartless were being defeated by a large man, one who looked similar to her father. Daddy, the young girl thought at first. However, after a moment of watching him, Marlene could pick out things that were different between the two men.
While her father was a large man, the one in front of her was much larger. The man in front of her had both of his arms, unlike her mechanical handed father. The clothing style was different as well.
When Marlene started to pick out all of the differences, her heart grew heavy. She was no closer to finding her family as she had been before this world. Marlene shook herself of the upsetting thoughts and stood up as the man finished his fight.
The little brunette was fully prepared to thank the man who helped her. That is, until the man scolded her. He sounded a little mean, but her father did most times as well. For some reason, Marlene was happy the man was scolding her. It felt somewhat normal.
"I'm sorry, sir," Marlene started, "but I'm looking for my family. I'm not sure how I ended up in this district. I'm sorry for causing you trouble. Thank you for saving me."
Marlene was happy she had been able to thank the man. He had saved her from being hurt further and she was lucky he had come along.
The young girl looked around slowly, hoping to find a way out of the district. She barely remembered the man was there as she looked for a way out. I need to find my way back, before I get into trouble again. Daddy would not like it if I was hurt.
