Maya waited until she was certain her mother was in bed before she got up from the floor of the bathroom. She crawled to the first aid kit in her bedroom and started to wrap the new cuts on her arms.
That’s going to be hard to work around tonight,’
After she knew all of her cuts were cared for Maya climbed out of her window and onto the neighboring roof. Standing there waiting for her was her teacher of four years. He always waited for her when they would fight Heartless and any other creatures during the night.
The two didn’t talk for three minutes before her teacher told her to head to Third District, as he did every night. She smiled widely before heading that way. The never was much to fight in that area. They both knew that, but she still went. She went just in case someone needed help getting home. When she arrived it was as silent as always.
Maya took off her boots and socks and stood in the sewer water. She really didn’t care what it was. She liked to pretend she was at a beach, though she had never been to one. She pretended she was at the beach for a few more minutes before getting out of the water and taking a seat in the same spot she sat every night.
After a few moments of quiet, Maya took out her sketchbook and began to draw a scene from her most recent dream. She drew a group of three girls on a wall. One of the girls was leaning on the wall while another sat on the ground near the standing girl. The last was sitting on the wall in the middle of the other two girls. By the time her picture was done only the middle girl had a face, and it was Maya’s.
Maya sighed and looked at her pocket watch to see that she should get ready to leave. When her things were packed she started the walk back home.
”Another night down, another unfinished picture.”
